Mitch McConnell Stomps His Foot, Shakes Dems To Their Core With SCOTUS Ultimatum

It took Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell some time to come to his senses and realize the time is now to make the best out of having a Republican President and a Republican-controlled Congress.

When it comes to President Trump’s SCOTUS nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, McConnell understands obstructionist Democrats are the only thing standing in the way of making the confirmation happen smoothly. And he isn’t about to let them get away with whatever they have up their sleeve, according to a new report. See Below

To stall the process of Kavanaugh’s confirmation, Democrats are trying to gain full access to records produced by the judge during George W. Bush’s tenure before they consider meeting with him. And the documents they are trying to sift through could be in the millions. It’s a delay tactic that is the latest trick devised by Democrat leaders. As reported by The Daily Caller:

Democrats want access to a massive body of work Kavanaugh generated during his time in the Bush White House. The judge entered the administration as associate White House counsel, then became staff secretary until 2006. In these capacities he advised senior officials on a range of legal issues and managed the president’s paper flow. He left the executive branch following his confirmation to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

All told, Kavanaugh’s Bush-era paper trail is believed to span one million pages. He’s also written some 300 decisions on the D.C. Circuit, and an untold number of documents for Ken Starr during his tenure as independent counsel.

But McConnell has a plan that will trap Democrats if they attempt to go all-in with this strategy. See Below

According to Politico, McConnell will offset any delay made by Democrats by playing a little bit of hard ball. He will simply set a date for the confirmation vote, conveniently right before the midterms.

And why will this strategy be effective?

The strategy of scheduling the Kavanaugh vote right before the midterms would virtually put pressure on red state Democrats to pull their support behind the Constitutional Conservative Supreme Court Nominee. Because if they don’t, it could be bad news for them when Americans in those states head to the polling booths. Continued Below

Democrats will have a tough time to see their way through on obtaining the millions of documents, especially with Senator Chuck Grassley standing in their way. Grassley is already willing to put up a fight against Democrats and fired off a warning to them with a brutal statement.

Per The Daily Caller, Grassley said:

“Many Democrats announced their opposition to this nominee before the vetting process ever began. They’ve made clear that their plan will be to obstruct and delay at every corner, and reviewing Judge Kavanaugh’s record will be no different. Rest assured, this process will be fair and thorough. At the same time, I will not allow taxpayers to be on the hook for a government-funded fishing expedition.”

Democrats, in the meantime, argue access to documents is crucial because of decisions and rulings made by Kavanaugh were done during a critical time. And their could be some conflicts.

McConnell isn’t buying it, Grassley isn’t buying it and it’s almost a given that any Republican lawmaker with enough common sense isn’t buying it. Especially after all of the obstruction we have seen thus far out of, what Senator Rand Paul calls, lawmakers with “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
