Justice Roberts and President Trump were at odds regarding the 9th Circuit Court. Earlier this week, Trump railed against Obama appointed Judges.
And Justice John Roberts went political and said there were no such things as Judges who are biased! (MORE BELOW.)
Biased Judges or not?
The Register Guard reported, “after President Trump called a judge who ruled against him an “Obama judge,” Chief Justice John Roberts issued an extraordinary public rebuke of the President.”
“‘We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges,’ Roberts said in a statement. What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them. That independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for,” NPR reported Justice Robert’s statement.
Yet, the Western Journal discovered, “the very judge who ruled just last month that the Trump administration could not withhold federal funds from so-called ‘sanctuary cities’ is an ‘Obama judge,’ according to Fox News Insider. And he’s quite possibly an ‘Obama judge’ in more than one sense of the term.”
“Not only was Judge William Orrick III appointed by former President Barack Obama in 2012, but he is cited as helping to raise money for Obama during his first presidential campaign. But, no bias there, right?” the WJ reported. (MORE BELOW.)
President Trump strikes back on Twitter with FACTS.
“The Watchdog group Public Citizen noted in its website archive that Orrick had raised at least $200,000 for Obama in 2008. In addition, he gave $30,800 to ‘to committees supporting Barack Obama’ in 2008. In 2004, Public Citizen noted that he raised at least $100,000 for John Kerry.His listed fundraising and donations record shows a leftist slant. His rulings, some would argue, do the same,” Western Journal said.
Trump tweeted in reply, “Sorry Chief Justice John Roberts, but you do indeed have “Obama judges,” and they have a much different point of view than the people who are charged with the safety of our country. It would be great if the 9th Circuit was indeed an “independent judiciary,” but if it is why…are so many opposing view (on Border and Safety) cases filed there, and why are a vast number of those cases overturned. Please study the numbers, they are shocking. We need protection and security – these rulings are making our country unsafe! Very dangerous and unwise!”
To further prove the bias in the courts, President Trump tweeted, “79% of these decisions have been overturned in the 9th Circuit.” @FoxNews A terrible, costly and dangerous disgrace. It has become a dumping ground for certain lawyers looking for easy wins and delays. Much talk over dividing up the 9th Circuit into 2 or 3 Circuits. Too big!” (TWEETS BELOW.)
