After Blasting Romney, Trump Doubles Down On Mexico Paying For Border Wall: ‘Quick Payback!’

President Trump took to Twitter Wednesday morning where he doubled down on the wall after ripping Mitt Romney.

He sent out a reminder to the haters and critics who keep questioning the funding for border security and the wall.

President Trump reminded everyone Wednesday morning that Mexico is paying for the wall, and it will be funded through the new USMCA Trade Deal. The new United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA) replaces the outdated, failed North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

The USMCA was signed by President Trump, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on November 30, 2018, as a side event of the 2018 G20 Summit in Buenos Aires.

Compared to NAFTA, the agreement gives the United States more access to Canada’s $19 billion dairy market, incentivizes more domestic production of cars and trucks, increases environmental and labor regulations, and introduces updated intellectual property protections, according to Wikipedia.

“This new deal will be the most modern, up-to-date, and balanced trade agreement in the history of our country, with the most advanced protections for workers ever developed.” President Trump said of the deal.

On Wednesday, the President tweeted reiterating his campaign promise.

President Trump wrote, “Mexico is paying for the Wall through the new USMCA Trade Deal. Much of the Wall has already been fully renovated or built. We have done a lot of work. $5.6 Billion Dollars that House has approved is very little in comparison to the benefits of National Security. Quick payback!” (Continued Below)

Further, Trump responded to Mitt Romney’s Op-Ed from The Washington Post.

The President wrote, “Here we go with Mitt Romney, but so fast! Question will be, is he a Flake? I hope not. Would much prefer that Mitt focus on Border Security and so many other things where he can be helpful. I won big, and he didn’t. He should be happy for all Republicans. Be a TEAM player & WIN!”
