After Blumenthal Rushes To Protect Mueller’s Report, Trump Hits Back: ‘An Embarrassment To Our Country!’

President Trump took to Twitter Monday evening where he brought back Senator Richard Blumenthal’s (D-CT) nickname that he coined.

Further, the President called out Blumenthal for defrauding the American public as war hero in Vietnam.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal helped introduce a bill that would protect Robert Mueller’s “witch hunt” report while making sure it is released to the public.

President Trump caught wind of what Blumenthal was up to and in a Monday night tweet, he called him “Da Nang Dick,” after Blumenthal wrongly claimed years ago that he served in Vietnam, but he never said he was in Da Nang province.

Trump wrote, “How does Da Nang Dick (Blumenthal) serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee when he defrauded the American people about his so called War Hero status in Vietnam, only to later admit, with tears pouring down his face, that he was never in Vietnam. An embarrassment to our Country!”

Earlier in the day, Blumenthal, along with fellow Senate Judiciary Committee member Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, introduced legislation that would ensure the work of any special counsel appointed by the Justice Department, including Mueller, would have their work made available to both Congress and the public, even if that official is fired, resigned, or gets transferred, per Washington Examiner. “A Special Counsel is appointed only in very rare serious circumstances involving grave violations of public trust. The public has a right and need to know the facts of such betrayals of public trust,” Blumenthal said in a statement.

Blumenthal added, “Transparency matters. Our bipartisan bill would require a report whenever a Special Counsel finishes an investigation, is fired, or resigns; assuring that the results cannot be sealed or selectively censored.” (Continued Below)

Democrats are going to extreme measures to protect Robert Mueller and his report. It makes one wonder if they already know what the report entails.

William Barr, President Trump’s Attorney General nominee pick assured the Senate Judiciary during his confirmation hearing that he would in fact, make sure the report would come out with as much as he could release.

“As the rule stands now, people should be aware that the rules, I think, say that the special counsel will prepare a summary report on any prosecutive or declination decisions, and that shall be confidential and shall be treated as any other declination, or prosecutive material, within the department. In addition, the Attorney General is responsible for notifying and reporting certain information upon the conclusion of the investigation.” Barr added that “he has to wait to talk to Rod Rosenstein to see what he has discussed with Mueller.” Barr explained during his Senate hearing.

“My goal and intent is to get out as much information as I can consistent with the regulation” He added.
