Conservatives Promptly Respond After Northam Acknowledges Darkening Face For Another Party

Gov. Ralph Northam (D-VA) said Saturday during a press briefing, that he was not in a 1984 yearbook photo of two men dressed in blackface and Ku Klux Klan costume, despite admitting he was in the picture a day earlier. However, he admitted to darkening his face for another event that same year as he dressed as Michael Jackson in a talent contest.

Northam said however, he won’t resign after the yearbook photo emerged.

Gov. Ralph Northam apologized for the picture appearing on his page, calling the image offensive” and “racist, but said that he had nothing to do with the preparation of the yearbook, and that he did not purchase it.

Further, he had prematurely apologized on Friday, and he called it a horrific yearbook picture showing one person in blackface and another wearing a KKK outfit. Saturday he claimed, “that is not my picture.”

He acknowledged that he had initially admitted to being in the image, but said that “in the hours since I made my statement, I reflected with family and classmates from that time and it affirmed my conclusion that I am not the person in that photograph.”

“When I was confronted with the image, I was appalled that it appeared on my page, but I believed then and I believe now that I am not either of the people in that photograph,” he said at a press conference at the governor’s mansion. (Continued Below)

Many have come forward expressing their disapproval toward the embattled Virginia Governor:

GOP Leader, Kevin McCarthy, wrote, “VA Governor Ralph Northam’s past racist behavior caps a week where he displayed an egregious lack of respect for human dignity and the American values that we fight every day to uphold. Staying in office only poisons efforts to grow together as one nation. He should resign.”

Former Arkansas Governor, Mike Huckabee, wrote, “Ralph Northam’s governorship is experiencing a post-election abortion, but after his fellow Dems set him aside, they will “make him comfortable” and “have a conversation” to decide how they will kill his political career.” He added, “Gov Northam seen gathering with his remaining supporters. They are in booth 4 at Richmond Waffle House. There’s room for a few more of you are nearby.”

Huckabee also said, “Ahh! That explains why he moon-walked into the press conference today. My advice to Northam is an old saying: “When you’re in a hole, quit digging. He’s digging.” Further he wrote, “Gov Northam has left VA for Egypt because he’s swimming in “De-Nile.” I’m beginning to feel sorry for him. Who advised him to go out there and say this stuff?” (Continued Below)

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) said, “Northam guilty on Thurs of promoting infanticide. Guilty on Fri of associating w horrible racism & bigotry. W this press conference now he’s guilty of lying w a straight face. On Sun he should go to church. On Mon he should resign, but should have happened today!”

Brad Parscale, President Trump’s 2020 campaign manager said, “Between the disgusting racist picture and his recent comments in support of infanticide, Ralph Northam clearly has a track record of disrespect for human dignity and life. He should resign immediately.”

GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel expressed, “Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam’s past: 1981: You had a racist nickname in your college yearbook. 1984: Pictures appear in your medical school yearbook of you in either blackface or a KKK robe. 2013: After a debate, you refuse to shake your African American opponent’s hand.” She added, “2017: You edited out your African American running mate Justin Fairfax’s photo from your campaign fliers. Now you’re clearly lying about your racist past to save yourself. Republicans and Democrats agree, Ralph Northam, you must resign.”

Donald Trump Jr. wrote, “I did do it once before, but that’s not me in the picture. #Bullshit” He also included a video of Northam talking about the Michael Jackson costume.

Further Don Jr. posted a tweet from Kamala where she congratulated Northam for “showing that Virginia won’t stand for hatred and bigotry.” Don Jr screen shot her tweet and wrote, “Well this is awkward & didn’t age well at all.”
