President Trump took to Twitter Saturday after reports surfaced of the unverified Steele dossier which alleged Trump’s ties to Russia.

The dossier was written by Christopher Steele, former British intelligence agent, and late Sen. John McCain reportedly provided it to BuzzFeed with the help of his staff. (Video Below)

Christopher Steele was hired by the opposition research firm Fusion GPS to dig up dirt on then-candidate Donald Trump in 2016. Fusion GPS was receiving funding at the time from the Clinton campaign and the DNC through the Perkins Coie law firm.

The series of memos that Steele compiled became known as the “Trump Dossier.” The dossier was used in FISA applications to surveil Carter Page.

However, a federal court unsealed 43 pages Thursday of a deposition that former British spy Christopher Steele gave as part of a lawsuit over his infamous anti-Trump dossier.

To the disappointment of many observers, the full deposition was not unsealed in Thursday’s motion. Instead, portions of Steele’s interview, which he gave in London on July 13, 2018, were unsealed in separate court filings submitted in the lawsuit, per the Daily Caller. (Video Below)

A deposition given by former State Department official David Kramer was perhaps the most enlightening document contained in the dump. Kramer, a longtime associate of late Arizona Sen. John McCain, was BuzzFeed’s source for the dossier. Kramer shared the dossier with at least 11 other reporters, including CNN’s Carl Bernstein, the Daily Caller wrote.

The Daily Caller further noted that Kramer obtained the dossier in late November 2016 after visiting Steele in London. Steele acknowledged that Kramer and McCain were picked as conduits to pass the dossier to then-FBI Director James Comey. McCain met with Comey on Dec. 9, 2016 and provided all of the dossier’s memos that had been written up to that point.

“I think they felt a senior Republican was better to be the recipient of this rather than a Democrat because if it were a Democrat, I think that the view was that it would have been dismissed as a political attack,” Kramer said in the deposition when asked why Steele and his business partners at Fusion GPS wanted McCain to meet with Comey. “I provided copies of the December memo to Fusion GPS for onward passage to David Kramer at the request of Sen. John McCain. Sen. McCain nominated him as the intermediary. I did not choose him as the intermediary.” Steele said.

Steele told Kramer that he couldn’t “vouch for everything that was produced in the memos.”

Further, Steele was asked why he believed it was so important to provide the dossier to Sen. McCain and he said, “Because I judged it had national security implications for the United States and the West as a whole.”

What’s more, Steele acknowledged that he relied on a “random” article posted to a CNN website as part of his research for his infamous dossier. Steele used CNN’s iReports articles that are said to be “nothing more than any random person posting things on the Internet.”

As Fox News noted, CNN’s iReports now-defunct website made clear that its articles were not fact-checked or vetted prior to publication. The site’s banner used to read, “Unedited. Unfiltered. News.

Steele claimed he was not aware of that. “No, I, obviously, presume that if it is on a CNN site that it has some kind of CNN status. Albeit that it may be an independent person posting on the site,” he said. (Video Below)

President Trump fired back after reports surfaced and transcripts were released from former associate deputy attorney general Bruce Ohr,  former FBI lawyer Lisa Page and former FBI agent Peter Strzok.

He wrote on Twitter Saturday quoting Ken Starr, “Spreading the fake and totally discredited Dossier “is unfortunately a very dark stain against John McCain. Ken Starr, Former Independent Counsel.”

Trump added of McCain, “He had far worse “stains” than this, including thumbs down on repeal and replace after years of campaigning to repeal and replace!”

The President also wrote, “New evidence that the Obama era team of the FBI, DOJ & CIA were working together to Spy on (and take out) President Trump, all the way back in 2015.” A transcript of Peter Strzok’s testimony is devastating. Hopefully the Mueller Report will be covering this. @OANN @foxandfriends”

Then he said, “So, if there was knowingly & acknowledged to be “zero” crime when the Special Counsel was appointed, and if the appointment was made based on the Fake Dossier (paid for by Crooked Hillary) and now disgraced Andrew McCabe (he & all stated no crime), then the Special Counsel should never have been appointed and there should be no Mueller Report.”

He concluded, “This was an illegal & conflicted investigation in search of a crime. Russian Collusion was nothing more than an excuse by the Democrats for losing an Election that they thought they were going to win THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN TO A PRESIDENT AGAIN!” (Video Below)
