During an interview on MSNBC Friday, former CIA director, John Brennan said that he is absolutely willing to testify to Congress to refute claims after President Trump said that he took part in a “coup” to undermine his presidency.
Brennan suggested that he would “welcome any type of continued investigation of what we did that period of time that we were in government.”
Republicans have called for investigations into the CIA and FBI’s activities in the run-up to the investigation of the Trump campaign. The FBI formally opened its investigation of the Trump team on July 31, 2016, but some GOP lawmakers have suggested that Brennan was working behind the scenes to gather intelligence on Trump advisers before that, reported Daily Caller.
During an interview on Thursday, with host Sean Hannity of Fox News, President Trump named Brennan along with other Obama officials of a coup.
“This was a coup, this was an attempted overthrow of the United States government. These are sick people. These are sick, sick people. Let’s see what happens with McCabe and Comey and Brennan and Clapper, they were in on the act.” Trump said. (Continued Below)
The former CIA director responded, “I don’t think it’s surprising at all that we continue to hear these sociopathic ramblings of Mr. Trump claiming that there was this effort to try prevent him from being elected or to unseat him.”
“I welcome any type of continued investigation of what we did that period of time that we were in government. I’ve testified in front of Congress and absolutely, I’ll do it again.” He added.
Brennan claimed just two weeks before the end of the investigation that Mueller would issue a number of indictments. He has also accused President Trump of treason. However, he ate crow and walked back some of his disturbing claims about the investigation after the Mueller report revealed no collusion between Trump and Russia. (Continued Below)
Brennan, however, has a long record of dishonesty after he has lied to Congress and the Senate on separate occasions.
In February, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) unleashed a plan, that at the minimum, would put biased swamp tactics and double standards front and center after he introduced the “Justice For All Act,” which he said: “will create criminal referrals for the other people that we know have lied to Congress.”
Gaetz, during an interview with Tucker Carlson, laid out his case and point for how he knows people like, Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Andrew McCabe and James Clapper lied without retribution. The “Justice For All Act” will hold everyone who commits the same crime of lying to Congress equally accountable. (Video Below)
