A growing number of House Democrats are calling for an impeachment inquiry as the Trump administration resists cooperating with their investigations.
The “impeachment talks” accelerated this week after former White House counsel Don McGahn declined to show for the House Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), has backed away from impeachment and argued that Democrats should instead focus on the policy issues they campaigned on. But the pressure is mounting on Pelosi as the leftwing media and radical Democrats insist that now is the time.
Further, several Democrats have signed onto a resolution from Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) that calls on the Judiciary Committee to inquire whether the House should impeach Trump.
Amid the mounting pressure, however, Speaker Nancy Pelosi caved and called a special meeting of House Democrats for Wednesday morning, where the impeachment issue is expected to be discussed.
At the beginning of the month, during a Democratic-controlled House Judiciary Committee meeting to hold the Attorney General in contempt, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), gave away the Democrats’ agenda when he publicly confessed, “It is up to this committee to ensure that we get that report because we have lawful responsibilities, constitutional responsibilities to engage in, one of which is possibly impeachment. How can we impeach without getting the documents?” (Continued Below)
Just hours after former White House Counsel Don McGahn slapped down a subpoena from House Judiciary Committee Democrats, the panel announced Tuesday it was issuing two new subpoenas: one for former McGahn chief of staff Annie Donaldson, and another for former White House Communications Director Hope Hicks.
The President hit back Tuesday afternoon after Democrats continued their circus show.
He wrote, “So even though I didn’t have to do it with Presidential Privilege, I allowed everyone to testify, including White House Counsel Don McGahn (for over 30 hours), to Robert Mueller and the 18 Angry Trump-Hating Democrats, and they arrived at a conclusion of NO COLLUSION and NO OBSTRUCTION! The Dems were unhappy with the outcome of the $40M Mueller Report, so now they want a do-over.” (Continued Below)
Tuesday during a discussion on Fox News’ “The Five”, co-hosts Juan Williams and Greg Gutfeld explained why President Trump may actually want to be impeached, but for slightly different reasons than the Democrats.
Juan Williams explained why he believes the President may view being impeached by the House as a positive thing heading into 2020.
“I think he wants to be impeached by the House because he will not be convicted by a Republican majority in the Senate and then he will say, ‘Oh you know, they beat me up but I’m still standing. They sent Mueller after me, I’m still standing. Now they impeach me, I’m still standing.’ Now he’s a victim for conservatives,” Juan said.
Greg Gutfeld agreed with Williams, saying he also believes President Trump wants the House to bring impeachment proceedings against him but added that Trump has different reasons for wanting, so instead of making himself out to be a “victim”.
“It’s like that Tom Sawyer story where you trick the kid to painting the fence by exaggerating its therapeutic benefits,” Gutfeld said, implying that Trump is manipulating Democrats.
“I don’t think it’s about victimization. It’s about… it’s folk hero status when you go after somebody. He has a great economy going. All of this good stuff is happening, peace and prosperity and you’re impeaching him? It’s going to turn him into Paul Bunyan,” Gutfeld added. (Video Below)
