Ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), joined host Judge Jeanine Pirro Saturday on Fox News Saturday where he weighed in on the “show” that is set to begin next week.
He further revealed that Republicans on his committee are bringing in former U.S. Attorney Andrew McCarthy, a retired Department of Justice lawyer, as their witness for a hearing Wednesday on special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
On Monday hearings in Congress will begin, and Rep. Devin Nunes explains it as Democrats’ “impeachment hearings.”
“This is where the Democrats begin to throw fuel on their base. They’re bringing in John Dean Monday, and on Wednesday [they’re] bringing in retired FBI agents to tell us how Trump obstructed justice on a crime he didn’t commit,” Nunes explained.
The ranking member told Jeanine that Andrew McCarthy was invited to “hopefully have a little bit of balance.” Nunes said, “The show starts this week. They have already been poisoning the American people for two and a half years. This is going to be their road to impeachment.”
Nunes added, “I’m shocked that they’re going to do it.” (Continued Below)
He noted, “Just by having hearings like this… this does no good. They all know the dossier was garbage. They know they paid for it. They know there’s zero evidence of Trump colluding with any Russians. They know that Glenn Simpson and Christopher Steele– all the people that they hired colluded with Russians.”
Nunes also pointed out that former Senate leader Harry Reid (D-NV), had the dossier before the election.
“The press was all in on it, the press won’t call them out on it. So this is the challenge we have and now they’re going to start having these hearings that are designed just to intensify their base,” the California Congressman said. (Continued Below)
The hearing, announced last week by Chairman Adam Schiff, is titled, “Lessons from the Mueller Report: Counterintelligence Implications of Volume 1.”
“Since the release of the Mueller report, the American public has learned much about the President’s conduct, his campaign’s interactions with Russia and that nation’s interference in our election and affairs,” Schiff said in a statement.
His two witnesses are Stephanie Douglas and Robert Anderson, former executive assistant directors of the FBI’s National Security Branch, reported Washington Examiner.
