Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe will join CNN as a network “contributor”, according to senior media reporter, Oliver Darcy at the Cable News Network.
Republican lawmakers responded on Twitter Friday ripping McCabe after he was fired for lying and for being one of the “ring leaders” involved in the “Russia collusion hoax.”
Andrew McCabe was dealt a stunning blow just days before he would have been eligible for a lifetime pension. He was fired in March 2018, after the DOJ’s Inspector General concluded in his report that McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor − including under oath − on multiple occasions.
“Pursuant to Department Order 1202, and based on the report of the Inspector General, the findings of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility, and the recommendation of the Department’s senior career official, I have terminated the employment of Andrew McCabe effective immediately,” former Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement.
Michael Horowitz determined that McCabe hadn’t been forthcoming in regard to the handling of the FBI’s probe into Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state in the Obama administration.
McCabe filed a lawsuit earlier this month against the FBI and the Department of Justice; suing the agency for his pension and retirement funds while blaming President Trump for his termination. (Continued Below)
Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) responded: “Andrew McCabe: fired for lying to the FBI, caught by the Inspector General for unauthorized media leaks, and—worst of all—one of the ring-leaders in spreading the debunked and disastrous “Russian collusion” conspiracy theory. His reward? A paid CNN contract. Comical.”
Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) said, “CNN teams up with Andrew McCabe to attack the President. The same McCabe who was out to stop President Trump and who the Inspector General found lied three times!”
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) also reacted and tweeted, “It’s not every day CNN can hire someone with ‘failed coup attempt’ on their resume…” (Continued Below)
Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) responded, “McCabe->the FBI’s former Acting Director fired for leaking to the media & lying about it to the FBI, including under oath & ‘failing to adhere to the highest standards of honesty, integrity, & accountability’. Nothing to see here… let’s just be outraged Spicer is dancing on ABC.”
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) tweeted, “The guy who DOJ inspector general found committed federal crimes & is a serial liar? Good work, CNN. Love to see that commitment to serious journalism”.
