GOP Leaders React After Pelosi Announces Formal ‘Impeachment Inquiry’ Against President Trump

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) formally announced on Tuesday that she is moving forward with an “impeachment inquiry” into President Trump claiming “the President must be held accountable” for his “betrayal of his oath of office, betrayal of our national security, and the betrayal of the integrity of our elections.”

Pelosi specifically charged that the White House had violated the law by not turning over a whistleblower complaint concerning Trump’s July call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump allegedly pushed Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter. The president vowed Tuesday to release a transcript of his call with Zelensky, as reported by Fox News.

“This week, the President has admitted to asking the President of Ukraine to take actions which would benefit him politically,” Pelosi claimed. “Therefore, today, I’m announcing the House of Representatives is moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry. I’m directing our six committees to proceed with their investigations under that umbrella.”

“The President must be held accountable,” she continued. “No one is above the law.”

President Trump immediately responded along with GOP Leaders after Pelosi’s “impeachment inquiry” announcement.

“Such an important day at the United Nations, so much work and so much success, and the Democrats purposely had to ruin and demean it with more breaking news Witch Hunt garbage. So bad for our Country! Pelosi, Nadler, Schiff and, of course, Maxine Waters! Can you believe this? They never even saw the transcript of the call. A total Witch Hunt! PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!” the President declared. (Continued Below)

The Commander in Chief also announced on Twitter Tuesday that he would make a “complete” transcript of his phone call public on Wednesday.

“I am currently at the United Nations representing our Country, but have authorized the release tomorrow of the complete, fully declassified and unredacted transcript of my phone conversation with President Zelensky of Ukraine,” the President wrote. “You will see it was a very friendly and totally appropriate call. No pressure and, unlike Joe Biden and his son, NO quid pro quo! This is nothing more than a continuation of the Greatest and most Destructive Witch Hunt of all time!”

President Trump added, “Secretary of State Pompeo received permission from Ukraine Government to release the transcript of the telephone call I had with their President. They don’t know either what the big deal is. A total Witch Hunt Scam by the Democrats!” (Continued Below)

Gop Leaders and allies reacted on Twitter:

White House Press Secretary, Stephanie Grisham, tweeted, “Yes! Dems do nothing but weaponize politics when they should be working on behalf of their constituents. President Trump is here in NYC working hard on behalf of our country, while the dems continue to stomp their feet & shout the word impeachment. Nothing new here.”

House Republican Leader, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) pointed out: “Here are the facts: 1. Speaker Pelosi can’t decide on impeachment unilaterally. It requires a full vote of the House of Representatives. 2. The House has voted three times on articles of impeachment. Each vote failed. 3. For Dems, this is all about politics. Not about facts.”

House Republican Whip, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), expressed, “Speaker Pelosi is reckless and wrong to call for the impeachment of @realDonaldTrump based on unconfirmed, secondhand accusations. The American people deserve better than this pathetic and disgraceful witch hunt.”

Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, Doug Collins (R-GA), tweeted, “Speaker Pelosi’s decree changes absolutely nothing. As I have been telling Chairman Nadler for weeks, merely claiming the House is conducting an impeachment inquiry doesn’t make it so. Until the full House votes to authorize an inquiry, nobody is conducting a formal inquiry.”

Ranking Member of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), responded: “Democrats have been trying to impeach the President since the beginning of this Congress. -Michael Cohen’s testimony was a bust -John Dean’s testimony was a waste of time -The Mueller report did not live up to the hype.”

“@SpeakerPelosi’s decision to pursue impeachment now—on the basis of unsubstantiated, indirect, and anonymous allegations—only shows that the Speaker has finally succumbed to unrelenting pressure from the Socialist wing of the Democrat Party,” he continued.

Jordan added, “This was never about Russian collusion or Ukrainian prosecutions. It is all about undoing the 2016 election and the will of the American people.”

Former Chairman of the Freedom Caucus, Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) said, “So we are all clear what’s happening: House Democrats are supposedly beginning an impeachment inquiry, and building it on an anonymous secondhand complaint they haven’t seen… which describes a call transcript that they haven’t read. You can’t make it up.”

Congressman Matt Gaetz announced, “TONIGHT: I’ll be on @seanhannity to discuss the presidential harassment of President Trump and Nancy Pelosi’s ridiculous impeachment inquiry. TUNE IN TO @FoxNewsat 9:20pm ET/8:20pm CT!”

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) said, “House Dems are launching an impeachment inquiry today based on a whistleblower complaint they haven’t read & made by someone w/out any 1st hand knowledge of what they are complaining about. House Dems aren’t even willing to wait to read full unredacted transcript first tomorrow.”

GOP Chairwoman, Ronna McDaniel tweeted, “As more House Democrats cave to the radical left, it’s clear the only thing they care about is turning their wild witch hunt into a baseless impeachment effort against @realDonaldTrump. The American people know political desperation when they see it!”

She continued, “First it was the Russia hoax. Now it’s the Ukraine hoax. These are the transcripts we actually need to see: Biden’s calls with foreign leaders while his son was conducting shady business deals in those countries.”

McDaniel also wrote, “Since before he was even sworn in, far-left Democrats have plotted to impeach @realDonaldTrump. They didn’t get what they wanted from their Russia collusion delusion. Now, this. It’s been a political vendetta from the start!”

She added, “Give me a break. The so-called whistleblower hired a lawyer who worked for both Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer. This has the fingerprints of the same political vendetta that has consumed the Democrats’ smear campaign against @realDonaldTrump since he was elected.”

President Trump’s 2020 campaign manager, Brad Parscale tweeted, “Democrats have officially paved the way for a @realDonaldTrump landslide victory. The witch-hunt continues…”

Donald Trump Jr, the President’s son, responded to Rep. Mark Meadows and wrote, “That’s almost as bad a standard as they used to start their Russia hoax! By now it’s clear to the American people that all the Democrats want to do is obstruct this president from doing his job. Despite all this @realDonaldTrump has put up unprecedented numbers for America!”

Former White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, announced, “I’ll be on @seanhannity tonight at 9 pm ET to weigh in on the Democrats’ latest desperate and futile effort to overturn the results of the 2016 election. Tune in!”
