Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) tried to sit in on during the testimony of a former top National Security Council expert on Russia, Fiona Hill, to hear her testimony Monday, as part of the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry against President Trump.

Gaetz, who sits on the House Judiciary Committee, attempted to attend the testimony of Fiona Hill, a former deputy assistant to the president, but was told that because he was not a member of the House Intelligence Committee that he had to leave. The House Intelligence, Oversight and Foreign Affairs committees are conducting the impeachment inquiry into Trump, as reported by Fox News.

While speaking to reporters, Rep. Gaetz vented his frustration after being told he was not allowed to sit in on the hearing and wondered why he couln’t be present, explaining that chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) was involved in the impeachment inquiry.

“This morning we see further evidence that Adam Schiff’s clown show of an impeachment proceeding continues. Adam Schiff lied when he said that he and hist team did not have contact with the whistleblower, he lied when he read a false transcript into the record as Chairman of the House Intelligence Commitee,” Gaetz said.

“Today, when the Intelligence Committees and other committees began to examine witnesses, I appeared, just to participate, just to observe as a member of Congress, as a member of the Judiciary Committee. Traditionally, the Judiciary Committee has jurisdiction over impeachment,” Gaetz explained.

“If Adam Schiff and House Democrats were so proud of their work, they would be willing to show it,” Gaetz expressed. “Consistantly, Republicans have come out in each and every one of these depositions, and we’ve sought for a release of the transcript, for the American people to see more. So I guess the question is: Why is Adam Schiff trying to run a Kangaroo Court? Why is he continuing to limit access to evidence, limit access from even members of Congress?” (Continued Below)

“I’m deeply dissapointed that as a member of the House Judiciary Committee, on behalf of my constituants, I’m unable to participate and listen to the questions and answers. It’s even more troubling when we look at the selective leaks from Adam Schiff, where information will be taken out of context and provided to the press,” Rep. Gaetz said.

The Florida Congressman pointed out, “If Democrats are really trying to build a legitimate case, they would use legitimate tools. They would hold a vote on the House floor to establish proceedures, but we continue to see this is as the sham and charade that it is,” he added.

He also tweeted Monday, “Judiciary Chairman @JerryNadler claimed to have begun the impeachment inquiry weeks ago. Now, his own Judiciary members aren’t even allowed to participate in it. And yes – my constituents want me actively involved in stopping the #KangarooCourtCoup run by Shifty Schiff.” (Continued Below)

Rep. Gaetz also tweeted, “Chairman Schiff and the radical democrats are now active participants in the coup. To exclude Members of Congress from hearings confirms the American people’s suspicions: this is not a legitimate “impeachment inquiry” — it is a charade.”

He added, “Chairman Schiff and Speaker Pelosi are equally complicit in hiding and obfuscating the truth. Blocking Members of Congress from attending “impeachment” hearings is not only unfair, it runs counter to our Democracy. The perpetrators of this impeachment hoax must be held accountable — both by the Congress, and by the American people.”
