Congressman Lee Zeldin (R-NY) and House GOP Conference Chair, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), sent letters to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) Friday demanding that she release the transcripts of depositions pertaining to the closed-door hearings led by House Intel Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA).

This comes as the House of Representatives voted Thursday to pass Democrats’ resolution that sets the “ground rules” for the impeachment inquiry” against President Trump. The measure passed 232-196. No Republicans voted for the measure, but two Democrats broke with their party and voted against the resolution: Rep. Collin Peterson (D-MN) and Jeff Van Drew (D-NJ).

In their letters to Speaker Pelosi, Reps. Cheney and Zeldin wrote, “Despite the vote in the House Oct 31, House Democrats continue to conduct the partisan effort to impeach the President in secret. Your duty to the Constitution and the American people, as well as fundamental fairness, requires that you immediately release the full transcripts of all depositions taken since you pronounced the beginning of an impeachment inquiry on September 24, 2019.”

“The selective leaking in which the House Intelligence Committee has been engaged must end immediately and the full and complete record must be provided for the American people to see,” they demanded.

“In addition, to the extent that you make any redactions in any of the transcripts, all Members of the House must be supplied copies of the full and unredacted transcripts, as provided for in House Rule XI, Clause 2(e)(2)(A),” the Representatives wrote.

After the resolution vote on Thursday, Rep. Zeldin stood with his Republican colleagues and blasted Rep. Adam Schiff during a press conference where he demanded the House Intel Chairman immediately release the transcripts of the depositions that were held behind-closed-doors. (Continued Below)

Now Adam Schiff needs to release all the transcripts right now!” Rep. Zeldin demanded as his Republican colleagues applauded him Thursday. “On behalf of our constituents, on behalf of the American public– for everyone who’s pissed about being misled by Adam Schiff and his cohorts, hiding in the bunker of Capitol basement, using you to lie to our constituents! Release the darn transcripts!” [Emphasized].

On Friday, Pelosi told an audience in Philadelphia that she “has no choice pursuing impeachment.” Rep. Zeldin responded during an interview on “Fox & Friends” Saturday and said, “The resolution that passed this past week, it ended up being a bipartisan vote ‘against’ her resolution. This isn’t about the Speaker honoring her oath, … our Constitution, it’s about her honoring an enranged, activist, liberal base that gave her the gavel to make her Speaker. This about appeasing part of her conference that essentially rolled her into pursuing this impeachment.” (Continued Below)

“It’s clear House Dems & many of their media allies think Americans are idiots. The claim that yesterday’s impeachment inquiry reso is the same as what the House GOP provided during the Clinton impeachment is FALSE,” Rep. Lee Zeldin wrote on Twitter.

“Also, the Clinton impeachment reso was written & passed in a bipartisan manner. This is a stark contrast to yesterday’s “impeachment inquiry” reso dropped 24 hrs before being voted on & the only bipartisan vote it received was AGAINST it,” Rep. Zeldin said.

“Perhaps it’s because this new resolution does not ensure: Minority subpoena power; Release of the transcripts; Equal staffing between parties; Counsel for the President and the ability for them to question witnesses and present evidence,” he continued.

“In fact, all of these decisions are left to Schiff who – under this partisan reso – has the power to veto whatever he wants. He already has the authority to release the transcripts & ensure due process, which he’s not doing. What makes us think he’s going to change going forward?” Rep. Zeldin asked.

“President Clinton had the right to have counsel present to review docs provided to the committees, cross examine witnesses & fully participate in committee hearings. It was also easier for the minority to subpoena witnesses & docs,” he added.
