President Trump Reacts After Finding Out Romney Is In Isolation: “Gee, That’s Too Bad”

Doctors directed Utah Republican Sens. Mike Lee and Mitt Romney to self-quarantine Sunday due to being near Sen. Rand Paul, who tested positive for COVID-19, reported Deseret News.

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has become the first U.S. Senator to test positive for coronavirus according to a statement released on his official Twitter profile on Sunday.

Senator Paul’s announcement released on Twitter states as follows:

“Senator Rand Paul has tested positive for COVID-19. He is feeling fine and is in quarantine. He is asymptomatic and was tested out of an abundance of caution due to his extensive travel and events. He was not aware of any direct contact with any infected person.

He expects to be back in the Senate after his quarantine period ends and will continue to work for the people of Kentucky at this difficult time. Ten days ago, our D.C. office began operating remotely, hence virtually no staff has had contact with Senator Rand Paul.”

Senator Mitt Romney’s office afterward, released the following statement: “Since Sen. Romney sat next to Sen. Paul for extended periods in recent days and consistent with CDC guidance, the attending physician has ordered him to immediately self-quarantine and not to vote on the Senate floor. He has no symptoms but will be tested.” (Continued Below)

During a Coronavirus Task Force press briefing on Sunday, a reporter told the president that four Senators are self-quarantining, to which the Commander in Chief asked who they were.

“[Senator Mitt] Romney, Senator [Mike] Lee, Senator [Cory] Gardner, and Senator Rick Scott,” the reporter said.

“Romney is in isolation?” The president asked after hearing the news. “Gee, that’s too bad”. (Video Below)

The reporter then asked the president, “Detect sarcasm there?” to which the Commander in Chief replied: “No. None, whatsoever.”

Mitt Romney was the lone Republican Senator to vote to convict President Donald Trump of “abuse of power”, one of two articles of impeachment charged by House Democrats.
