President Donald Trump took to Twitter Friday morning, urging Democratic lawmakers to “come back to Washington” so they can “approve legislation to help families in America”, adding, that they end their “endless vacation”.

Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) agreed with the president and blasted his Democratic colleagues for allowing a prolonged recess during the COVID-19 crisis.

President Trump ripped House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for failing to come to an agreement on additional funding for small businesses amid the pandemic.

“Today people started losing their jobs because of Crazy Nancy Pelosi, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, and the Radical Left, Do Nothing Democrats, who should immediately come back to Washington and approve legislation to help families in America. End your ENDLESS VACATION!” the president tweeted.

The president’s tweet comes as the Payment Protection Program, which helps businesses with under 500 employees obtain loans that can cover eight weeks of their payroll, benefits, rent and other expenses, ran out of funding. The program was created as part of the $2.2 trillion CARES Act that passed last month, and converts the small business loans to grants and would be fully forgiven if 75 percent of the loan is used to keep employees on the payroll, reported Fox News.

In a series of tweets, Rep. Gaetz blasted Democrats during their prolonged recess, saying “Pelosi has receded to her San Francisco mansion,” while “President Trump remains in Washington”, amid the pandemic. Continued Below

“Members of Congress are not released from their constitutional responsibilities during national crises. It is a dereliction of duty for Congress to be absent from DC, and unable to pass life-saving legislation, during this consequential time in our nation’s history,” Rep. Gaetz explained.

“While President @realDonaldTrump remains in Washington, working tirelessly to protect the American people, @SpeakerPelosi has receded to her San Francisco mansion. I agree with @POTUS: Congress should be back in Washington working alongside him to combat this pandemic,” the Florida Congressman wrote.

“It is unconscionable that health care workers, first responders, and millions of other Americans are fighting back against COVID-19 while Democrats refuse to do their jobs. Republicans are eager to go back to work for the American people and unite behind President @realDonaldTrump as he leads our country through this crisis,” he expressed. Continued Below
