House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) spoke with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’ airing of “Sunday Morning Futures”, blasting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for her reaction over the President’s positive COVID-19 test.

Pelosi, during an interview on MSNBC Friday, called President Trump’s behavior a “brazen invitation” to the diagnosis. “This is tragic. It’s very sad. But it also is something again, going into crowds unmasked and all the rest, was sort of a brazen invitation for something like this to happen,” she said.

Reacting to criticism toward the president, Rep. Kevin McCarthy said, “It’s rather disgusting. We’ve watched Speaker Pelosi say this before that we’re enemies of the State. This is uncalled for, especially in this time and place.”

“And remember, other nations are watching America. This is the one time we could unite together… [President Trump] is sitting here trying to work with this Speaker to get a COVID relief package together and these are the comments that she makes? It’s really unbecoming of that position,” he expressed.

The California lawmaker also recalled having a conversation with the president Friday night and said he was most worried about the others who had also contracted the virus. He said President Trump was “so appreciative of the thoughts and prayers and well wishes”, adding the president was “still doing work”.

On Friday, Rep. McCarthy tweeted: “I just got off the phone with President Trump. He was upbeat and told me that he appreciates all the prayers and support from everyone. Our president is strong and will beat the virus!” Video Below
