Joe Biden delivered a national address last week, which was heavily focused on the coronavirus pandemic and vaccines, marking the one-year anniversary of Covid-19 lockdowns. In his speech, however, Biden said in part “if we do our part, if we do this together, by July the 4th, there’s a good chance you, your families, and friends will be able to get together in your backyard or in your neighborhood and have a cookout or a barbecue and celebrate Independence Day.”

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo fired back, informing Americans that Biden does not get to “decide” what freedoms we enjoy on Independence Day.

“I need you. I need every American to do their part, and that’s not hyperbole. I need you. I need you to get vaccinated when it’s your turn and when you can find an opportunity,” Biden instructed. “And to help your family, your friends, your neighbors get vaccinated as well.”

“Because here’s the point: If we do all this, if we do our part, if we do this together, by July the 4th, there’s a good chance you, your families, and friends will be able to get together in your backyard or in your neighborhood and have a cookout or a barbecue and celebrate Independence Day,” he said.

“That doesn’t mean large events with lots of people together, but it does mean small groups will be able to get together after this long hard year,” Biden claimed.

“That will make this Independence Day something truly special, where we not only mark Independence as a nation, but we begin to mark our Independence from this virus. … This fight is far from over. … I’ll tell you the truth. On July 4th, with your loved ones is the goal. But a goal– a lot can happen,” he added. Continued Below

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo fired back on Twitter, suggesting that Biden does not get to “decide” what Americans get to do on Independence Day.

“On the 4th of July, we celebrate America and our many freedoms. One of those freedoms is that YOU get to decide if you want to have family and friends over in your own backyard, NOT the government,” Mike Pompeo wrote on Twitter Friday.

Pompeo also tweeted, “President Reagan once said, ‘If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape. This is the last stand on earth.’ We must keep our God given rights at the center of our unending quest to secure FREEDOM for all Americans. And I will stand with you in their defense!” Video Below
