House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Friday rejected a move by Democrats, which was led by Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-CA), to expel Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) from Congress.
About 70 House Democrats joined Gomez in signing the resolution. However, to expel a member of Congress, the bid requires a two-thirds supermajority, meaning that a significant number of Republicans would need to join, reported The Epoch Times.
“I’m not going to get into that,” Pelosi told reporters Friday about the bid to expel Greene, suggesting that she did not support his resolution. “Members are very unhappy about what’s happened here. And they can express themselves the way they do. What Mr. Gomez did is his own view. And that is not a leadership position.”
Rep. Greene, in a tweet on Thursday, said House Democrats have “declared war on House Republican Women,” tying the resolution to the House’s consideration of a claim by Rita Hart that she won Iowa’s 2nd district rather than Rep. Marianne Miller Meeks (R-IA), whose 6-vote victory was certified by her state.
“There is nothing more threatening to Democrats than strong Republican Women!!! Democrats are trying overturn the will of the People who voted for both myself and @millermeeks. House Democrats have declared war on House Republican Women!” the Georgia congresswoman said.
In another tweet on Thursday, Rep. Greene wrote, “In Nancy Pelosi’s America, I’ve been expelled from Congress! And that’s exactly what the Democrats are introducing TOMORROW: a Resolution to expel & remove me from office for the mere crime of standing with the People, not the politicians!” Continued Below
She added, “Democrats have declared me Public Enemy Number One. Tomorrow, 72+ radical Socialists are introducing a resolution to EXPEL me from Congress. And it’s all because I stand for the PEOPLE over politicians.”
Eleven House Republicans voted with Democrats to remove Greene from her committees last month: Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.), Carlos Gimenez (R-Fla.), John Katko (R-N.Y.), Young Kim (R-Calif.), Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.), Chris Jacobs (R-N.Y.), Maria Salazar (R-Fla.), Chris Smith (R- N.J.) and Fred Upton (R-Mich.), Forbes reported.
On Friday, Rep. Greene called out then- California Senator Kamala Harris (D) and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), saying that they “raised money to bail out BLM/Antifa domestic terrorists from jail after they literally committed violent crimes and riots,” wondering, “Who should be expelled?” Continued Below

Uh oh and so did this US Congresswoman.@IlhanMN
Giving aid and comfort to enemies.
Definitely grounds for expulsion.
