After the Republican and the Democrat memos were released, one thing is a certain fact: there was FISA Court abuse in the Obama-era DOJ and FBI.
And as a result, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is stepping up to the plate even though he recused himself.
Jeff Sessions has pointed to the Inspector General, Michael E. Horowitz. Also, his report will be released by end of March. In this report, it will address the FISA Court abuses.
As the Daily Caller reported during an interview with Maria Bartiromo of Fox, Jeff Sessions told reporters on Tuesday:
“We believe the Department of Justice must adhere to the highest standards in the FISA court. And yes. It will be investigated.
And I think that’s just the appropriate thing. The Inspector General will take that as one of the matters he’ll deal with.”
Real Clear Politics reported Sessions saying, “Every FISA warrant based on facts submitted to that court have to be accurate. That will be investigated and looked at,” Sessions said. “I’m not going to talk about the details of it, but I tell you we’re not going to allow that to happen.”
However, President Trump came forward questioning A.G. Sessions reason for asking the Inspector General to investigate, calling it disgraceful.
“Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!” (See More Below)
