After President Trump sat down with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un in a historic summit, he energetically praised Kim’s love for his people, and the beautiful beaches of North Korea. The President said that he didn’t like previously using a harsh rhetoric against Kim Jong Un, but that it helped set the table for his historic meeting with the North Korean leader.

The President said it was a deliberate tactic that led up to where they got; the summit. (Videos Below)

In an interview that will air on Fox News’ “Hannity” Tuesday at 9:00pm ET, President Trump was asked about some of the courageous remarks he had previously made toward the dictator, including calling Kim Jung-Un “Little Rocket Man” and saying that North Korea’s continued threats against the U.S. would be “met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.”

During the interview with Hannity, the President explained that when he was tweeting about his bigger nuclear button and calling Kim a little rocket man, he was really executing a long-term strategy to get Kim to come around to the idea of denuclearizing.

“Well, I think without the rhetoric we wouldn’t have been here,” Trump told Hannity. “I really believe that.” Trump reminded Hannity of the previous administration, who had a “policy of silence” in dealing with North Korea. “That’s not the answer. That’s not what you have to do,” he said.

President Trump said, “Well, I think without the rhetoric we wouldn’t have been here. I really believe that. We did sanctions and all of the things that you would do. I think without the rhetoric, you know, other administrations, I don’t want to get specific on that, but they had a policy of silence. If they said something very bad, very threatening and horrible, just don’t answer. That’s not the answer. That’s not what you have to do!” (Videos Below)

Trump and Kim signed a document on Tuesday stating that Pyongyang would work to “completely denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.”

Hannity’s full interview with President Trump airs Tuesday night at 9 p.m. EST.
