Former FBI Lisa Page’s attorney says her client will not appear and comply with the subpoena Wednesday.

Page was scheduled to appear before the House Judiciary Committee for a closed-door deposition. (Video Below)

In a statement, Lisa Page’s attorney, Amy Jeffress writes:

Instead of responding to our requests to explain the scope of the interview and provide sufficient notice to allow her to prepare, the Committees chose to issue a subpoena on Saturday (July 7) demanding that Lisa appear on Wednesday, July 11.

The Committees would be asking Lisa about materials that she has not yet been shown. In fact, Lisa and I went to the FBI today to review the materials that were previously produced to Congress relating to her proposed interview, but after waiting for more than three hours, we were not provided with any documents.

We have asked the Committees to schedule another date that would allow sufficient time for her to prepare. The Committees have not honored this request. As a result, Lisa is not going to appear for an interview at this time. (Video Below)

President Trump said Tuesday morning, “I am on Air Force One flying to NATO and hear reports that the FBI lovers, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page are getting cold feet on testifying about the Rigged Witch Hunt headed by 13 Angry Democrats and people that worked for Obama for 8 years. Total disgrace!”

Page served in the FBI’s office of general counsel, and also served on a brief detail in 2017 on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team. Page resigned from the FBI this past May.

Lisa Page and Peter Strzok returned to the spotlight last month, upon the release of Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz’s long-awaited report on the FBI’s handling of the Clinton email investigation.  (Video Below)

President Trump tweeted before leaving for Europe Tuesday morning:

In a statement, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said, “It appears that Lisa Page has something to hide. She plans to blatantly defy a congressional subpoena by refusing to appear for her deposition. She has known for months that the House Judiciary Committee has sought her testimony.

She has no excuse for her failure to appear. Lisa Page is a key witness, and it is critical that she come before our committees to answer questions as part of our investigation.”

Following the news of Lisa Page’s attorney’s statement, Rep. Ron DeSantis tweeted, “Anti-Trump FBI lawyer Lisa Page is defying a congressional subpoena because she doesn’t want to answer questions or be held accountable. Pathetic.”

“One set of rules for regular Americans, a different set for the Swamp!” Jordan added.

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., a member of the Oversight Committee, said Page’s action was “indefensible.”

WATCH:

Lisa Page originally was scheduled to appear before both committees Wednesday as part of their investigation into alleged bias at the Justice Department. She and FBI agent Peter Strzok, who is set to testify publicly before the committees Thursday, exchanged disparaging text messages about then-candidate Donald Trump throughout the 2016 campaign.

Page and Strzok both worked on the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails and, later, special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation. Both were removed from the Mueller probe last year after the Justice Department’s internal watchdog made the special counsel aware of the anti-Trump messages.
