Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, Mark Meadows (R-NC) is fighting hard for the American people for border security, and he blames Democratic leaders Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, (D-CA) for their refusal to fund the border wall, in turn causing the partial federal government shutdown.

Meadows said it is looking like it could be “a very long-term shutdown.” (Video Below)

During an interview Thursday on CNN, Rep. Mark Meadows joined host Dana Bash where they discussed the funding of the border wall and Democrats who refuse to give in to the President’s calls.

When asked where things are right now in regards to the shutdown, Rep. Meadows said, “In the last 24-48 hours things have not progressed. There’s been a lot of conversations between rank and file members, not necessarily Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, but Senators, House members– with some of their Democrat colleagues.”

Meadows continued, “It really comes down to this: democrats are dug in that there’s not going to be any money for the wall. We passed 5.7 billion out of the House, and even the compromise that the administration, the President has put forth, a number of different proposals with Chuck Shumer and Nancy Pelosi have really fallen of deaf ears. So, at this point it looks like we could be in for a very long term shutdown.”

Meadows explained that the previous 1.3 billion proposed would have only covered fencing and not the wall. (Video Below)

The North Carolina representative said that Chuck Schumer’s claimed on the House floor, “there will be no wall,” when talking about replacing the fencing along the southern border.

Meadows brought up the same Chuck Schumer who in 2006 voted for a “Secure Fence Act,” that was 700 miles of fencing. And again, the same Chuck Schumer that in 2013 voted for the Gang of Eight Bill for border security.

Further, Mark Meadows took to Twitter to point out Chuck Schumer’s obstruction. (Video Below)

Meadows wrote on Twitter Thursday, “Nancy Pelosi told President Trump on national TV the House didn’t have the votes for a border wall bill. We did. It passed easily. The House passed it. The WH wants it. The Senate majority wants it. The one blocking an open government and a secure border: Chuck Schumer.”
