Amid the government shutdown, the Commander in Chief said during the news conference that he is considering declaring a national emergency to circumvent congressional approval to allocate funds for border wall.

Further, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer whined that President Trump told him, “he’d keep the government closed for a very long period of time, months or even years.”

The President was asked by a reporter during the news conference, “Have you considered using emergency powers to grant yourself authorities to build this wall without congressional approval?”

President Trump quickly responded, “Yes I have, and I can do it if I want.” (Video Below)

The reporter followed up by asking, “So, you don’t need congressional approval to build the wall?”

“No, absolutely we can call it a national emergency because of the security of our country.” Trump announced.

He added, “We can do it. I haven’t done it. I may do it, but we can call a national emergency and build it very quickly. It’s another way of doing it, but if we can do it through a negotiated process, we’re giving that a shot.” (Video Below)

The reporter asked President Trump if calling a national emergency is a threat and the Commander in Chief shot back, “I would never threaten anybody, but I am allowed to do that, yes. It’s called a national emergency.”
