President Trump sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) Wednesday pledging to continue on with the State of the Union address. This comes amid her trying to postpone his address to the nation. The President called her bluff and laid down the hammer.

Pelosi responded by sending a letter that said she will not allow the event to take place during the government shutdown.

President Trump on Wednesday morning told Pelosi he was still planning to deliver the address from the House floor. Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy also introduced a resolution to allow the State of the Union to go forward as planned on Jan. 29.

Pelosi made the final call in a letter to Trump that read in part, “I am writing to inform you that the House of Representatives will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing the president’s State of the Union address in the House Chamber until government has opened,” Pelosi wrote in the letter to Trump.”

Reacting to Pelosi’s letter, Trump told reporters at the White House, “It’s really a shame what’s happening with the Democrats. They’ve become radicalized. She doesn’t want to hear the truth, and she doesn’t want, more importantly, the American people to hear the truth.” (Continued Below)

After the news broke of the canceled State of the Union, many key conservatives came forward responding to Nancy Pelosi’s childish behavior.

GOP Leader, Kevin McCarthy wrote, “The State of the Union should proceed as planned. I just signed and submitted a resolution that would permit President Trump to deliver his #SOTU address in the Capitol on January 29th.”

Minority Whip, Steve Scalise, “First Nancy Pelosi invited @realDonaldTrump to deliver the #SOTU during the shutdown. Then she claimed there were security concerns, which DHS & Secret Service promptly refuted. She’s run out of excuses other than pure obstruction. It’s petty, unprecedented, and beneath Congress.” (Continued Below)

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) wrote, “Speaker Pelosi’s decision not to invite President @realDonaldTrump to deliver the State of the Union address sets a new low for American politics.  The President – regardless of party – should have the opportunity to address the American people in the State of the Union address from the traditional venue of the U.S. House of Representatives. The State of the Union is a tradition which has been carried out during times of war and peace, turmoil and tranquility. It is an important piece of our history and government. Speaker Pelosi’s decision to ignore this long-standing American tradition is absurd, petty, and shameful. The judgement of history will NOT be kind.”

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) wrote, “In response to Pelosi’s partisan stunt trying to cancel #SOTU the SENATE SHOULD INVITE #POTUS to give the address in the Senate instead. Art. II Sec. 3 of the Const establishes the State of the Union & Dem obstruction shouldn’t prevent the People from hearing from the President.” He added, “@realDonaldTrump should give #SOTU IN THE SENATE CHAMBER. We’d happily welcome House Members & not let Pelosi’s partisan stunt stop POTUS’s constitutional obligation to address the People on the State of the Nation. And America wants BOTH the government OPEN & the border SECURE.”

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) said, “Speaker Pelosi invited President Trump to give the SOTU on 1/3, when the shutdown was 2 weeks in, and then tried to reverse her own invitation by making up a “security” excuse when both DHS and Secret Service say they’re fully ready. POTUS is exactly right. SOTU should proceed.”

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) tweeted, “@SpeakerPelosi makes it official, no State of the Union. Unbelievable. It’s time for Democrats to focus on helping the country, not just stopping the President.”

Judge Jeanine, “Ms Pelosi does not have your interest at heart. She is an obstructionist and an embarrassment.” She added, “Ms Pelosi is only interested in her power base.”

Mark Levin, “Although Pelosi was elected as one of 435 members of the House, representing only San Francisco, she climbed her way to the top of leadership only to hijack the government appropriations process and shutdown part of the government; block the president from delivering the State of the Union address in the House for the first time ever; and, obstruct border security to protect the American citizenry and immigrants alike and uphold national sovereignty. It is Pelosi, not Trump, who is the authoritarian.”

Judicial Watch’s President, Tom Fitton said, “Once again, President @RealDonaldTrump is being abused by those who want to overthrow him. Illegal FISAs, spying, leaking, and now withdrawing an invitation to give a State of the Union. Shameful.”

James Woods said, “Speak at a stadium, Mr. President, to the people. We will listen, even if that sad wax museum called Congress will not. You are the People’s President, sir, and we welcome you.”

Former Milwaukee Sheriff, David Clarke wrote, “Wonder if the same TURDS on the left who accused @realDonaldTrump of pettiness over grounding a military plane Pelosi planned on traveling overseas in will blast her for her foot stomping in denying the POTUS the opportunity to deliver the SOTU address in the House of Reps.”
