Lou Dobbs On Repubs Betraying Trump’s Tariffs: ‘They Know Damn Well That Those Tariffs Will Work’

Former acting ICE Director, Tom Homan, joined host Lou Dobbs Wednesday on Fox Business where he weighed in Republican Senators who may try to block President Trump’s potential tariffs against Mexico that will start on Monday.

According to a new report by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the southwest border apprehensions are on the rise and Mexico isn’t doing enough to stop it.

Tom Homan believes that Mexico isn’t doing their part to protect the southern border and insisted that they need to step up their game. “Enough talk, let’s see what you’re going to do,” he said of Mexico.

Lou Dobbs explained that we are at a point where the Senate is “undercutting President Trump” after threatening to sue him for securing the southern border.

“We are watching the Republican party itself, betray this President, because they know damn well, that those tariffs will work against Mexico, and the punishment will be quick, and there are consequences they will have to suffer– will be intense,” Dobbs exclaimed.

Homan agreed with Dobbs and said that it’s “disgusting” pointing to Republican Senators who want to “cut him off at the knees.” (Continued Below)

“Are they paying attention to the border at what’s happening? What price are they gonna put on national security and public safety on our sovereignty? Stop worrying about lobbyists and big companies. Let’s start worrying about American people and protecting our border,” Homan recommended.

He went on to explain that the border is porous, open, not controlled, and 40-60 % of the border control agents are not on the line.

“This is a national security crisis. And God help us if we don’t step up and do something quickly because these Republican Senators and the Democratic party are going to find themselves on the wrong side of history if something terrible happens to this country!” Homan expressed. (Continued Below)

President Trump also took to Twitter on Wednesday and wrote, “Immigration discussions at the White House with representatives of Mexico have ended for the day. Progress is being made, but not nearly enough! Border arrests for May are at 133,000 because of Mexico & the Democrats in Congress refusing to budge on immigration reform.”

He added, “Further talks with Mexico will resume tomorrow with the understanding that, if no agreement is reached, Tariffs at the 5% level will begin on Monday, with monthly increases as per schedule. The higher the Tariffs go, the higher the number of companies that will move back to the USA!” (Video Below)
