Isreal has blocked congresswomen Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN), denying their entry to Isreal as both representatives support the Israeli movement known as Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS).
President Trump reacted on Twitter ahead of Isreal’s decision to block the Congresswoman.
“It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep.Tlaib to visit. They hate Israel & all Jewish people, & there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds,” the President wrote on Twitter Thursday.
He added, “Minnesota and Michigan will have a hard time putting them back in office. They are a disgrace!”
Trey Yingst, a foreign correspondent for Fox News, reported that the Israeli government made a last-minute decision to ban Reps. Tlaib and Omar from entering the country ahead of their “planned visit” that was scheduled on Friday.
“Suspected of promoting the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions or BDS movement, the members will be denied access in accordance to an obscure 2017 law in Israel that allows the government to deny access to those who encourage these actions within the movement,” Yingst said. (Continued Below)
Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said on Thursday that “The decision has been made, the decision is not to allow them to enter,” Hotovely told Israel’s Reshet Radio, Reuters reported.
Omar has faced criticism on numerous occasions for her comments in regard to Israel and Jewish people, causing Democratic members of the House to bring a resolution to the floor, after criticism from Jewish lawmakers, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and others, as reported by the Daily Caller.
