Shortly after multiple senior administration officials revealed that U.S. attorney John Durham is expanding his investigation into the “Russia collusion hoax”, and one day after Senate Judiciary Chairman, Lindsey Graham (R-SC), offered Rudy Giuliani a chance to testify before his committee, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said in Rochester, NH Wednesday, that President Trump is “shooting holes in the Constitution” and that he “should be impeached.”
The Commander in Chief, however, immediately took to Twitter to respond to Biden’s claim on Twitter, suggesting that the former vice president’s “failing campaign gave him no other choice” to essentially call for Trump’s impeachment.
“Trump will do anything to get re-elected, including violating the most basic forms of democracy. It’s stunning, and it’s dangerous because it directly threatens our democracy.” Biden claimed. “This is not hyperbole, it’s a fact. No president in Ameican history has dared to engage in such unimaginable behavior– with his words, with his actions.”
“President Trump has indicted himself by obstructing justice, refusing to comply with the congressional inquiry; he’s already convicted himself. In full view of the world and the American people, Donald Trump has violated his oath of office, betrayed this nation and committed impeachable acts,” he said.
“To preserve our Constitution, our democracy, our basic integrity, he ‘should’ be impeached. … We have to remember impeachment isn’t only about what the President’s done, it’s about the threat the President imposes to the nation if allowed to remain in office,” he claimed.
President Trump fired back on Twitter and wrote, “So pathetic to see Sleepy Joe Biden, who with his son, Hunter, and to the detriment of the American Taxpayer, has ripped off at least two countries for millions of dollars, calling for my impeachment – and I did nothing wrong. Joe’s Failing Campaign gave him no other choice! (Continued Below)
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced a formal inquiry at the end of last month, claiming “the President must be held accountable” for his “betrayal of his oath of office, betrayal of our national security, and the betrayal of the integrity of our elections.”
Pat. A Cipollone, counsel to the President, sent a scathing letter to House Democrats on Tuesday, in response to what he called their “numerous, legally unsupported demands” for a “partisan and unconstitutional impeachment inquiry.”
“The President cannot allow your constitutionally illegitimate proceedings to distract him and those in the Executive Branch from their work on behalf of the American people,” Cipollone wrote in part. (Video Below)
