President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Sunday to react to former FBI Director James Comey, who admitted in a Sunday Fox News interview with host Chris Wallace, that he “was wrong” in his handling of the FISA process.
Trump proposed potential consequences the former FBI Director may face after he admitted fault amid the long-awaited Department of Justice Inspector General’s report, pertaining to the origins of the Russia investigation.
Comey, on Sunday, admitted to Wallace in the interview: “He’s right. I was wrong. I was overconfident in the procedures that the FBI and Justice [Department] had built over twenty years. I thought they were robust enough,” related to the Inspector General Horowitz’s findings of the FISA report.
“It’s incredibly hard to get a FISA. I was overconfident in those. Cause he’s right, there was real sloppiness — seventeen things that either should’ve been in the applications or least should’ve been discussed and characterized differently. It was not acceptable,” Comey confessed.
The Commander in Chief, in a pair of tweets, pointed out that Inspector General Horowitz was appointed by Barack Obama and declared that the former President knew “everything”. Trump also proposed potential consequences the former FBI Director may face.
“As bad as the I.G. Report is for the FBI and others, and it is really bad, remember that I.G. Horowitz was appointed by Obama. There was tremendous bias and guilt exposed, so obvious, but Horowitz couldn’t get himself to say it. Big credibility loss. Obama knew everything!” President Trump declared on Twitter. In another tweet, Trump wrote, “So now Comey’s admitting he was wrong. Wow, but he’s only doing so because he got caught red handed. He was actually caught a long time ago.”

Last Wednesday, the DOJ watchdog testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee over the findings of the FISA report.
While Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) questioned Horowitz, the inspector general essentially admitted that there was, in fact, bias. This exchange is incredible and did not get a lot of coverage.
“Is the absence of evidence always the evidence of absence?” Senator Kennedy asked Horowitz, to which the watchdog replied, “No, it isn’t.”
