Joe Biden, on Tuesday, appeared to vent his frustration during a speech in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, claiming that the United States is “facing the most significant test of our democracy since the Civil War”. His remarks come as a forensic audit is about to take place in the Keystone State.

Biden traveled to the National Constitution Center to deliver remarks on voting rights amid states preparing to conduct forensic audits over the November 2020 general election.

“So hear me clearly, there’s an unfolding assault taking place in America today, an attempt to suppress and subvert the right to vote in fair and free elections, an assault on democracy, an assault on liberty, an assault on who we are– who we are as Americans,” Biden claimed.

“For make no mistake: bullies and merchants of fear, peddlers of lies are threatening the very foundation of our county,” he alleged. “It gives me no pleasure to say this. … But I swore an oath to you, to God to preserve the right to defend the Constitution. … The assault on free and fair elections is just such a threat, literally.”

“I’ve said it before. We’re facing the most significant test of our democracy since the Civil War. This isn’t hyperbole– since the Civil War,” Biden claimed.

Biden also asserted that states tightening and enforcing their voter laws is “making it harder for Americans to vote”, adding, “21st century Jim Crow assault is real. It’s unrelenting, and we’re going to challenge it vigorously”. Video Below

Meanwhile, 45th President Donald Trump issued a statement via email from his “Save America” PAC Tuesday ahead of Biden’s visit to Pennsylvania.

Trump accused Biden of rushing to Pennsylvania “in order to order to stop the forensic audit that the Pennsylvania Republican Senate is in the process of doing”.
