With two major Pacific Hurricanes in the last four days, the storm season is once again upon us. Furthermore, there is a different kind of storm brewing in Puerto Rico.
Does everyone recall the San Juan, Puerto Rican Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, who criticized President Trump last season? Then when he visited they made amends?
The Daily Caller reports:
“Cruz…infamously picked a fight with President Trump in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria last year.
President Trump signed a $36.5 billion aid package for the nation. Some of the aid took awhile to get to its destination. Cruz took aim at the White House in those months, accusing the U.S. government of turning its back on them.
Some of her messages were indirect. She wore a ‘Nasty Woman’ shirt on CNN, in reference to Trump’s insult for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign. Others were not blatant, like when she said Trump “speaks out of both sides of his mouth.”
Karma is an interesting phenomena. As it turns out, today, it is Cruz’s administration who is under investigation by the FBI for corruption in the Hurricane relief efforts!
Shortly after the devastating category 5 Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rican residents were reporting the mishandling of FEMA supplies.
Fox News reports, “FBI agents in Puerto Rico have been receiving calls from “across the island” with residents complaining local officials are “withholding” or “mishandling” critical FEMA supplies — with one island official even accused of stuffing his own car full of goods meant for the suffering populace.”
“The complaints we’re hearing is that mayors of local municipalities, or people associated with their offices, are giving their political supporters special treatment, goods they’re not giving to other people who need them,” FBI Special Agent Carlos Osorio told Fox News.”
And as it turns out, it is allegedly Cruz who is at the forefront of the corruption and is currently under investigation.
