Kirstjen Nielsen who sits in the President’s cabinet as the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Secretary went up against the media and their skewed narrative today.
It’s safe to say that the DHS Secretary completely demolished NBC’s Kristen Welker. It would behoove these so-called journalists to do their homework BEFORE they walk into the White House press room! (VIDEO BELOW.)
A discussion about the Trump administration pulling away families at the border ensued. Kirstjen Nielsen held her ground and informed the press that the Congress has the ability to change the law tomorrow if they desire.
The press; however, wants the narrative to be: it’s ALL Trump’s fault and Trump is a big meanie! If the disingenuous leftists’ virtue signaling were any louder, it could be heard from space!
Kristen Welker of NBC, tries on the narrative d’jour and says, “May I ask you a question quickly, because you continue to insist that this is something that Congress can change.” And the in-control-and-unconcerned, self-assured DHS Secretary simply states, “YES” in reply.
Then NBC’s sadly uninformed reporter says, “this is something that was enacted after the Attorney General announced his “zero tolerance” policy.” And that is where Welker steps in a pile of her own making so deep that she cannot possibly remove her self. (VIDEO BELOW.)
Secretary Nielsen unequivocally steps in to educate Welker and the rest of the press on the FACTS. She says, “That’s actually NOT TRUE. So, the last administration. The Obama administration, the Bush administration, ALL separated families at the [border]. They absolutely did. Their rate was less than ours. But they absolutely DID do this. This is NOT new.”
Furthermore, the Washington Post reports in January of 2016, “The Obama administration failed to protect thousands of Central American children who have flooded across the U.S. border since 2011, leaving them vulnerable to traffickers and to abuses at the hands of government-approved caretakers, a Senate investigation has found.”
The report continues that it was “Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) [who] initiated the six-month investigation after several Guatemalan teens were found in a dilapidated trailer park,” during Obama’s term.(VIDEO BELOW.)
