Earlier this summer, the co-owner of the Red Hen, Stephanie Wilkinson, in an extreme partisan move refused to serve Presidential Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Subsequently, the Red Hen watched their 5 star rating drop to 2 in the wake of the ill-advised refusal. And it has not gotten better for the Red Hen or anyone in the area either.
American’s nationwide were OUTRAGED at the disrespectful decision to refuse service based on politics.
The local area has a board to improve tourism. It is called “Main Street Lexington, and it’s goal is to improve the city’s Downtown area.
Stephanie Wilkinson resigned shortly after the incident – in hopes that her actions would not affect the entire tourist economy in Lexington.
It didn’t work. (continued below.)
The Roanoak Times, reported:
“Director of Marketing Patty Williams said the area is still feeling effects from the controversy — the tourism office received a letter Thursday from a family in Georgia who said they would never come back to the area because of what happened. And during the immediate aftermath of the incident, the tourism office received thousands of phone calls and emails.
‘For a town our size, it was a significant impact,’ Williams said.”
The New York Post reported, the “regional tourism board is pulling together emergency funds to boost its digital marketing campaign.”
AP reported that “officials agreed the region is in desperate need of positive coverage.”
The tourism board serves the Lexington area where the Red Hen is located. (MORE BELOW.)

Shortly, after the incident, a Virginia chapter of Bikers For Trump showed their support of the Presidential Press Secretary.
Bikers for Trump made a road trip to the Red Hen. And peacefully protested with Republican Senate candidate Corey Stewart.
Additionally, Corey Stewart – the Republican candidate going against Tim Kaine – showed up and represented with the Bikers For Trump Virginia Chapter.
