After Collins Took A Stand, George H.W. Bush Seals The Deal With His Stamp Of Approval

It was a tough day for Republican Senator Susan Collins, as she was forced to finally disclose how she would vote for Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Collins’ vote gave Republicans the 51-49 edge needed to push the confirmation process to Saturday’s final vote, which can confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. And she got immediate praise from Republican leaders, including by former President George HW Bush for making the bold decision

In days leading up to Friday’s vote, Collins had mounting pressure from the left to vote ‘no’ since she is considered a swing voter. But after reading the results of the FBI report and gathering her thoughts, Collins now appears to be a hard ‘yes’ heading into Saturday.

And she made the following statement to back up her decision:

Collins’ decision to stick with her party made the elder Bush’s day, so he praised her with the following statement:
