After Referring Criminal Charges, Grassley Makes Another Bold Move That’ll Get Under CPL’s Skin

Michael Avenatti is having a bad week.

The porn star lawyer this week was hit with 4.85 million legal fee, now Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley has referred Avenatti and his client, Julie Swetnick, for criminal investigation regarding a potential “conspiracy” to provide false statements to Congress and obstruct its investigation. But, there’s more.

Michael Avenatti, the creepy porn lawyer, represents Julie Swetick who accused Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct at the 11th hour before his Supreme Court confirmation.

Swetnick accused Kavanaugh during the confirmation proceedings of being involved in or present at “gang” and “train” rapes at high school parties in the 1980s. He denied it.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley  wrote a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI Director Christopher Wray on Thursday, writing that Swetnick and Avenatti’s allegations were leveled at a “suspicious” time. (Related Article: Grassley Hits Avenatti & Swetnick With A Potential Three-Part Criminal Investigation)

On Friday, Chairman Grassley referred Michael Avenatti for an additional investigation over potentially false statements submitted to the committee. (Continued Below)

After Referring Criminal Charges, Grassley Makes Another Bold Move That’ll Get Under CPL’s Skin

The second referral to the Justice Department and FBI following a news report that cast doubt on the veracity of allegations in a second sworn statement provided by creepy porn lawyer Avenatti to the committee.

According to the a press release from the Senate Judiciary, Avenatti submitted an anonymous declaration on October 2, 2018, purporting to corroborate allegations raised by Julie Swetnick. However, according to yesterday’s news report, the declarant denied making the key allegations, saying that Avenatti “twisted [her] words.” (Continued Below)

Grassley is referring Avenatti for investigation of potential violations of the same statutes noted in yesterday’s criminal referral.
