Pres Trump & First Lady Melania Issue A Statement On The Passing Of George H.W. Bush

41st U.S. President George H.W. passed away on Friday evening, less than 8 months after losing his wife, Barbara Bush.

According to his spokesperson, Bush died at his home at the age of 94. His death follows a string of declining health and battle with a form of Parkinson’s disease.

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump immediately issued a joint statement to commemorate the former President and military veteran.

In their statement, the Trumps praised Bush for inspiring generations of Americans   through his “essential authenticity, disarming wit, and unwavering commitment to faith, family, and country.”

The Trumps highlighted core achievements of Bush over the years, including, being captain of Yale baseball team, becoming the youngest aviator in the Navy during World War II, serving as Congressman, becoming director of the CIA,  serving as Vice President to Ronald Reagan, and eventually being elected as 41st President of the United States.

The Trumps said much of Bush’s success stemmed from him always finding a way “to set the bar higher.”

Their statement read, “With sound judgement, common sense, and unflappable leadership, President Bush guided our Nation, and the world, to a peaceful and victorious conclusion of the Cold War. As President, he set the stage for decades of prosperity that have followed.”

And in ending, the Trumps voiced that Bush will be remembered by not only the service to his country, but also for “his devotion to family — especially the love of his life, Barbara.”

They added, “Our hearts ache with his loss, and we, with the American people, send our prayers to the entire Bush family, as we honor the life and legacy of 41.” Full Statement Below
