The announcement came as somewhat of a shock wave across the world. General Mattis’ retirement was not expected. One thing is certain, it was kept close to the White House and Pentagon. It’s a tight ship.

It was not a forced resignation.

Fox News reported shortly after the tweet announcement, “A senior U.S. defense official told Fox News that Mattis was not pushed out of his role and this was not a forced resignation.”
