Dershowitz Levels Napolitano’s Notion That Trump Obstructed Justice: ‘The Act Itself Has To Be Illegal’

President Trump took to Twitter Saturday after his rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin where he praised attorney Alan Dershowitz for his legal wisdom by putting Judge Andrew Napolitano in his place.

Trump also took a swipe at Fox News host “low ratings” Shepard Smith.

After the release of the Mueller report, Judge Napolitano claimed on his Fox Nation show “Judge Napolitano’s Chambers” that there is proof that the President obstructed justice.

“When the President asked Cory Lewandowski, his former campaign manager, to get Mueller fired, that’s obstruction of justice. When the President asked his then-White House Counsel to get Mueller fired and then lie about it, that’s obstruction of justice. When he asked Don McGhan to go back to the Special Counsel and change his testimony, that’s obstruction of justice.” Napolitano said.

He added, “But ordering them to break federal law to save him from the consequences of his own behavior, that is immoral, that is criminal, that is defenseless, and that is condemnable.”

However, Alan Dershowitz responded to Napolitano’s comments that because it was within the President’s purview to terminate the investigation or fire special counsel Robert Mueller, any attempts he made to do so could not be described as “obstruction.” (Continued Below)

Dershowitz explained, “In my introduction to ‘The Mueller Report,’ I go through the elements of obstruction of justice. The act itself has to be illegal. It can’t be an act that is authorized by Article II of the Constitution.”

President Trump responded on Twitter thanking Dershowitz and slammed Napolitano writing, “Thank you to brilliant and highly respected attorney Alan Dershowitz for destroying the very dumb legal argument of “Judge” Andrew Napolitano”.

He added, “Ever since Andrew came to my office to ask that I appoint him to the U.S. Supreme Court, and I said NO, he has been very hostile! Also asked for pardon for his friend. A good “pal” of low ratings Shepard Smith.” (Video Below)
