While President Trump is pushing back at subpoenas and other outrageous demands being thrown his way from Democratic lawmakers to probe into his administration, Trump, on Monday, urged top-ranking Democrats to shift their focus to what the American people really want to know about.
Democrats continue to turn a blind eye to the genesis of the Russia investigation, but President Trump continues to keep up the pressure and point to where they should zero in.
On Monday, President Trump took to Twitter urging House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) to shift their focus to “Crooked Hillary” and the genesis of the “phony” Russia investigation.
Trump even suggested that Nadler and Schiff could boost their “credibility” by doing so.
“Why are the Democrats not looking into all of the crimes committed by Crooked Hillary and the phony Russia Investigation? They would get back their credibility. Jerry Nadler, Schiff, would have a whole new future open to them. Perhaps they could even run for President!” Trump declared.
The president’s tweets come as Attorney General Bill Barr already has assigned U.S. Attorney from Connecticut John Durham to lead an investigation into the origins of the Russia investigation. Durham is tasked with looking into “all intelligence collection activities” related to the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential election and any misconduct during the early stages of the FBI’s original Russia probe, reported Fox News. Barr has also directed Durham to specifically review the time period between Election Day and Inauguration Day, telling Fox News last week that “some very strange developments” took place during that time. Barr was referring to the early January 2017 briefing intelligence officials gave then-president-elect Trump at Trump Tower and “the leaking of information subsequent to that meeting.”
During that meeting, Trump was briefed by intelligence and law enforcement officials on Russian election meddling—and was also informed by former FBI Director James Comey about the now-infamous anti-Trump dossier which included salacious allegations against him. President Trump also pushed back Monday at “Sleepy Joe Biden” as the former vice president seems to be rising in the polls. Trump said Barack Obama took him off the “trash heap” back in 2008 — and China is rooting for him.
Trump tweeted, “Looks like Bernie Sanders is history. Sleepy Joe Biden is pulling ahead and think about it, I’m only here because of Sleepy Joe and the man who took him off the 1% trash heap, President O! China wants Sleepy Joe BADLY!”
According to a Fox News poll, last week showed Biden leading in the overcrowded field of Democratic hopefuls with 35 percent, and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in second place with 17 percent.
Trump’s tweet seemed to be a reference to Biden’s poor performance in the 2008 Democratic primaries. Biden consistently polled in the low single digits in that race and dropped out after garnering just 1 percent in the Iowa caucuses. Obama later tapped him to be his running mate, reported Fox News. The Commander in Chief also seemed to mock Biden over his recent comments claiming that Beijing was not a competitor for the U.S.
Biden claimed that China is “not competition for us,” that drew criticism from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.
During an interview on Fox News, Trump blasted Biden’s stance on China. “He says China’s not a competitor of ours. China is a massive competitor of ours. They want to take over the world. OK?”
