Before departing for a rally in North Carolina on Wednesday, President Donald Trump spoke briefly with the rabid press, who was focused on the four freshmen Democratic Congresswomen.
The President pushed back and remained to stand by his recent statement in that of, “If you’re not happy here, you can leave.”
While taking questions from the press at a White House economic event on Monday, the President was asked about his tweets aimed at the “squad” and he responded: “If you’re not happy here, you can leave! And, that’s what I say all the time– I said in a tweet, which I guess some people think is controversial. A lot of people love it, by the way. But, if you’re not happy in the U.S.– if you’re complaining all the time, very simply, you can leave. You can leave right now. Come back if you want, don’t come back. It’s okay too. But, if you’re not happy, you can leave!”
Speaking with the press on Wednesday, the President reiterated how he felt: “If people want to leave our country, they can. If they don’t want to love our country, if they don’t’ want to fight our country, they can… I’ll never change on that, no.”
Asked if he was winning the political fight, the Commander in Chief confidently said, “I do think I’m winning the political fight. I think I’m winning it by a lot. I think they are not espousing the views of our country. The four congresswomen… I think that they’ve said horrible things that the press doesn’t cover. I think you should try covering it. When you look at some of the things they said, they’re ‘unthinkable!’
The President explained that if he or someone else said some of the things that the congresswomen have said previously it would be “historic.” (Continued Below)
“So you ought to look at some of the horrible statements because there [have] never been statements like that before,” the President urged the press.
Trump continued, “The Democratic party is really going in a direction that nobody thought possible; they’re going so far left they’re gonna fall off a cliff. I think they’re making a big mistake, but who knows. That’s up to them.”
Emerald Robinson, Chief White House Correspondent for OANN asked President Trump whether Ilhan Omar would be investigated for alleged marriage fraud and he responded, “Well, there’s a lot of talk about the fact that she was married to her brother. I know nothing about it, I hear she was married to her brother. I don’t know, but I’m sure there’s somebody that would be looking at that.” (Continued Below)
The President also praised the 187 Republicans who voted against Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “resolution” and said, “There’s great unity at the Republican party.”
