Gillibrand Drops Out Of 2020 Race, Trump Reacts: ‘I’m Glad [Dems] Never Found Out That She Was The One I Was Really Afraid Of!’

On Wednesday, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) became the latest Democrat to drop out of the 2020 presidential race with a video on Twitter.

President Trump took to Twitter shortly after Gillibrand’s announcement with witty humor.

“After more than eight incredible months, I’m ending my presidential campaign,” Gillibrand said Wednesday in her video. “We wanted to win this race, but it’s important to know when it’s not your time and to know how you can best serve your community and country.”

She added, “I believe I can best serve by helping unite us to beat Donald Trump in 2020.”

In the past two weeks, former Gov. John Hickenlooper of Colorado, Gov. Jay Inslee of Washington state and Rep. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts all dropped out. All three immediately moved on to down-ballot races. Hickenlooper launched a bid for the Democratic Senate nomination in Colorado, while Inslee and Moulton announced re-election bids for their respective offices, as reported by Fox News.

Gillibrand’s exit from the primary race could signal that other mid-tier candidates will soon drop out as well, particularly as donors consolidate around the frontrunners, and as the fundraising and polling criteria to make the cut for October’s fourth round of debates remain the same as those for September, per Fox News. President Trump responded on Twitter shortly afterward with witty humor.

“A sad day for the Democrats, Kirsten Gillibrand has dropped out of the Presidential Primary. I’m glad they never found out that she was the one I was really afraid of!” the President joked.

On Tuesday night, Trump also trolled the three candidates that are running in the GOP primary against him. He Trump coined the trio as the “Three Stooges”, referring to former Reps. Mark Sanford (R-SC), Joe Walsh (R-IL) and former Gov. Bill Weld (R-MA).  (Video Below)

“Can you believe it? I’m at 94% approval in the Republican Party, and have Three Stooges running against me,” the President tweeted.

“One is ‘Mr. Appalachian Trail’ who was actually in Argentina for bad reasons,” he continued, referring to Mark Sanford.

“Another is a one-time BAD Congressman from Illinois who lost in his second term by a landslide, then failed in radio. The third is a man who couldn’t stand up straight while receiving an award. I should be able to take them!” he declared, referring to Joe Walsh and Bill Weld.
