Tuesday during a House Judiciary Committee hearing, Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D-FL) said that she plans to tell her constituents that “President Donald Trump and the attorney general, working together, are not following health guidelines and letting Americans die needlessly because of political reasons.”

Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) fired back during the hearing and on Twitter, saying “This is absolutely shameful.”

“What am I supposed to say to my constituents when they ask me if the government has done everything its power to protect their loved ones from dying?” Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell asked Attorney General William Barr regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

The attorney general responded: “I would tell them that managing this kind of thing requires difficult choices conveying different consequences. … And that is left in our system of government that’s left to the governors.”

The Florida congresswoman interjected to yell over the attorney general, declaring: “I’m not going to lie. I am not going to lie to my constituents. I am going to tell them that President Donald Trump and the attorney general, working together, are not following health guidelines and letting Americans die needlessly because of political reasons.”

Rep. Mike Johnson asked Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) during the hearing if it is “permissible to accuse the sitting Attorney General of the United States of murder?” adding: “Because that’s what we just heard. Those words need to be struck from this record. This is outrageous!” Continued Below

Chairman Nadler told Rep. Johnson that “members control the time”, which prompted Johnson to fire back, asking, “To say whatever they want? What about rules of decorum?”

The Louisiana Senator also tweeted on Wednesday: “Chairman Nadler & the Democrats should be ashamed of how they treated AG Barr yesterday. Their outrageous accusations have rightfully drawn criticism from across the spectrum. They even accused him of homicide! I’m glad the media is highlighting this for Americans to see.”

In a separate tweet, Rep. Johnson wrote: “Weaponizing a pandemic to accuse @realDonaldTrump and Attorney General Barr of murder is beneath the dignity of this institution. This is absolutely shameful.” Video Below
