Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) claimed that calling the massive influx of immigrants coming to the southern border a “surge” pushes White supremacy.
“Anyone who’s using the term ‘surge’ around you consciously is trying to invoke a militaristic frame,” AOC alleged on Tuesday night during an Instagram Live video.
“And that’s a problem because this is not a surge. These are children and they are not insurgents and we are not being invaded, which by the way is a White supremacist idea-philosophy, the idea that if another is coming in the population that this is an invasion of who we are,” Rep. Ocasio-Cortez claimed
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) reacted to AOC’s assertions on Twitter Wednesday, declaring that the New York congresswoman is “lying”.
“AOC is lying and being a racist blaming ‘white supremacist,'” Rep. Green wrote.
“If she cared about children of all races, then she would be down at the border crying about the very real surge of children being trafficked in our country and stuffed in ‘cages’ due to the policies she loves,” the Georgia representative said, referring to when AOC visited the border under the Trump administration.
